A super fascinating open-source project tracks how the SARS-CoV-2 virus has evolved and mutated as it spreads around the world. This page links to the data visualization but also updated situational reports and raw data are available as well. Data like this are part of the tools that allow researchers to work backwards and trace where regional cases originated around the world.
